The United Clogging Association (formerly known as the Original ACHF 1981), is a non-profit, non-incorporated organization dedicated to the preservation of the old time square dance and clogging. The United Clogging Association exists for the purpose of honoring our past leaders and providing a place for dancers from all corners of the world and all walks of life to come together to dance and create life lasting friendships. The United Clogging Association is a family-oriented organization that promotes clean, family-friendly events that are designed to preserve our traditional art form while welcoming the ever changing contemporary styles of clogging.
The UCA sanctions many competitions throughout the year where teams and dancers can qualify to compete in World Championship dance-off in Maggie Valley during October each year. Any team finishing 1st or 2nd in TWO sanctioned competitions qualifies to compete at the Year End Event. If you live more than 300 miles away from one of our sanctioned events, you only have to qualify once with a 1st or 2nd in the respective categories you compete in to qualify for the year end event. If you live less than 300 miles away from one of our sanctioned events, then you will have to qualify twice with a 1st or 2nd in the respective categories you competed in.
All grand champion solo winners at each sanctioned event earns the opportunity to compete at the Championships in October for a chance to be the Over-All Solo dancer of the year.
The United Clogging Association honors many of its dancers at the October Championships. The UCA Legacy Teams are selected each year through a nominating and selection process, in which some of our organizations best dancers are chosen. These dancers are showcased at the Championships during a special ceremony that takes place during the 3:00 hour.
The United Clogging Association Honors select individuals to be inducted into The UCA Clogging Hall of Fame. These inductees have been clogging for at least 25 years and have been a positive influence in the preservation of the dance. These recipients are awarded at the Championship each year during a special ceremony that takes place during the 3:00 hour.
College scholarships are also awarded in October for deserving students. Any member of The United Clogging Association may nominate a recipient for consideration of this scholarship.
The UCA fiscal year runs from November 1 to October 31. A list of competitions, committees, members, and additional information will be available on our website at www.cloguca.com
The Annual Member meeting will be held the first weekend in November in different locations convenient to the bulk of the membership. Voting on new issues will occur at this meeting as well as elections on perspective years. New rules and any other organizational changes will go into effect on January 1st, prior to the first competition of the New Year. Executive offices will go into effect immediately following the close of the November meeting during each election year.
